Actors are welcome to share a prepared monologue, but it is not required. Expect to perform a cold reading from the text. Following are the characters in the play (some roles may be cross-cast in terms of gender):
PENELOPE RYAN – 30.
PAUL RYAN – 12, her son.
HAROLD RYAN – 55, her husband. A big game hunter who has been missing for many years.
COLONEL LOOSELEAF HARPER – 50, her husband’s sidekick.
HERB SHUTTLE – 35, a suitor. A vacuum cleaner salesman.
NORBERT WOODLY – 35, a suitor. A doctor.
WANDA JUNE – 10, a ghost.
MAJOR SIEGFRIED VON KONIGSWALD – 50, a German ghost.
MILDRED – 45, Harold’s former wife, a ghost.
This play is intended for ages 14 and up due to adult language and adult themes.
